Property Info
Step back in time and enjoy the splendor of yesteryear in this magnificent, center chimney, colonial (circa 1746) bed and breakfast inn (listed on the National Historic Register). Located in the charming, quintessential, New England village of Old Saybrook, the Deacon Timothy Pratt B&B sits in the heart of the historic and shopping districts. This B&B is situated along a historic walking tour and also a scenic coastal bicycle loop. An ice skating pond is located nearby and a great canoe/kayak launch is half a mile away. The inn boasts many fine original details including original wide-board floors throughout, hand-hewn beams, wainscoting, a corner cupboard, beehive oven and eight working fireplaces] The house was built by Deacon Timothy Pratt in 1746 and served as a private school in the 1790's. Timothy Pratt was a carpenter and served as a Deacon in the church across the street, thus it's present day name. In the Pratt House Scrap Book, you can read an excerpt from a girl's journal that attended school there. A formal candle-lit breakfast is served on fine china, linens and silver in the elegant dining room complete with fireplace, corner cupboard and period wainscoting. Guests are treated to a full, three-course gourmet breakfast on weekends (Sat. and Sun.), and on weekdays the culinary staff prepares a breakfast of sumptuous home baked goods and a fresh fruit entrée.
The romantic guest rooms feature an award winning decor which combines the historical charm of yesteryear with the relaxing luxuries of today's modern lifestyles. Each unique guestroom now features a Jacuzzi whirlpool tub and a fireplace, as well as a 4-poster or canopy Queen-size bed. They also feature a comfortable sitting area, cable TV, phone/modem line, stereo/CD player, AC as well as floor fan or ceiling fan, and private bath. |
